Live Action Role Playing (LARP)
Live Action Role Playing is alive and well at OwlCon. If you have
never tried out a "LARP" then please consider giving it a try at
OwlCon, our LARPs welcome novices. Conventions provide an ideal
one-shot environment for trying out new games.
On this page you will find a list of the gaming events sorted alphabetically
by rules system. You can find information on how to submit gaming
events of your own on our Volunteers
& Gamemasters Page.
We hope you enjoy your live action role-playing experience and
will work with us to create a memorable gaming experience. The Cthulhu
Live! and World of Darkness LARPs will occur throughout Sewall Hall
and The Crossroads LARP will run sessions regularly in the Student
Center throughout the weekend. As with all LARPs, there is no touching
and please respect others in the LARP as well as those that are
not involved in the LARP. There are no additional fees for attending
the LARPs, but you must have a special events convention pass to
attend a LARP.

In the Year of Our Lord, One Thousand Nine Hundred and Twenty
Seven, combined purpose was conceived between the halls of
Miskatonic University and the University of Moscow. A research
mission in the Antarctic was to travel by ship and foot to
the South Pole. An expedition for the hopes of academia and
all Humanity, this joint mission was to have several nationalities
represented. Its brave pathbreakers were a varied team composed
of scientists, academics, seasoned explorers and adventurers.
Originally the lofty goal was to seek the South Pole and
take various measurements for science. Menacingly, a fateful
change in the weather had brought delay and concern to the
intrepid group once they left shipmates behind and trekked
'cross the frozen wastes. Yet even that paled to a singular
insignificance upon the discovery of an archaeological anomaly
that was to be found in the flowing cavern in which they had
sought succorous shelter.
Remarks: Costuming is not required but definitely encouraged.
Scenario allows for semi-formal 1920's attire to rugged, comfortable
clothing (including jeans and flannel shirt).

which, of them are you? With 25 Races, 6 Classes, 9 Orders,
an extensive Virtue and Flaw system, The Crossroads characters
are uniquely customizable. Our system provides play for both
Good and Evil characters. At The
Crossroads, where you go is up to you.
Characters will be generated on
site at the start of the slot.
* - each slot on Friday and Saturday
will consist of character generation (if necessary) and two
approximately 1-hour long games. This event is being executed
in a more freeform style than the other convention offerings,
and players are welcome to walk into the second game in a

This is a Live-Action Role Playing game in which you dress and
act out the role of your character in the story. Anything that
can't or shouldn't be done physically (like picking an imaginary
lock or punching someone) is handled by a simple rules mechanic
(if you can play paper-scissors-rock, you can use this mechanic,
if not, it's easy to learn). This game is set in modern day
Houston in White Wolf's World of Darkness. It is very similar
to our own Houston, only the shadows are darker, corruption
more rampant, and unspeakable things walk the night. Sounds
fun, doesn't it?
