You can find information on how to submit gaming events of your own on our Volunteers & Gamemasters Page. We will also be hosting an LSHM Challenge (see below).


Lone Star Historical Miniatures Challenge

OwlCon will be hosting a Lone Star Historical Miniatures challenge! The various clusters of historical gamers in the Texas will be vying for the coveted Golden Tank, currently owned by the bandits of the Brazos Valleys Historical Miniatures group.

What does this mean for you? High quality games with aesthetic layouts! We'll be keeping out eye out for people having fun, so be sure and hoop, holler, talk in funny accents, and have a good old time at any historical games so your GM will have a chance to take home the prize!

In this demo you will learn how to prime, base coat, detail, ink, decal, and highlight your favorite mechs. All materials will be provided for this demo, including the mech, which is yours to keep.

WW2 coastal action in which each player runs either a PT-boat on the Allies side or an S-boat on the Axis side. There are also a few other surprises as one side tries to escort its convoy and the other side attempts to stop the convoy. Scale is 1/300 so the boats are sizable and the action is simple, fast, and furious.

July 3, 1944...Allied troops have broken out after D-Day. Hitler has ordered the expansion stopped at these crucial cross roads in order to provide the 3rd Reich time to regroup and counter attack the invading Americans. German forces have dug-in at the small town of Mont St. Eir de Fleur and are ready to repulse the advancing U.S. troops of the 5th task group.

Uses modified BAPS rules for large skirmishes. US troops in a fictitious assault on a small French town under Nazi control. Focus is on fun and playability over Historical accuracy. Simple Beer and Pretzels fun.

Throughout the month of June, 1863, Robert E. Lee's invasion of Maryland and Pennsylvania had progressed with remarkable rapidity and elan. However, George C. Meade's Army of the Potomac brought him up short at the crossroads town of Gettysburg on July 1. Lee's forces now threaten a Rebel breakthrough on July 2. Will you break the Union line and drive for D.C.? Or will you send the Rebs runnin' back to Ol' Virginy? This game will be played with painted miniatures from the game on a custom map. Fan scenario development by Don Hessong.

Battle amongst the stars. In the far future, there is nothing but war. In this setting of the popular Warhammer series, science has turned into a psuedo-religious observation and relics from the dark age of technology are highly prized. This is a spaceship battle game set in the 40K universe. Bring your 850 point fleet (and admirals) and enjoy the challenge of your opponent.

Player Gear: All rules for your fleet. 2 copies of fleet register. Some pre-generated Fleets will be available for beginners. The fleets can be partially painted and some ships in a squadron can be proxies.

Battlefront WWII

Operation Citadel - Kursk 1943 5-10 players

The Battle of the Kursk salient has been raging for three days. Soviet high command committed to stop the Germans before they reached the city of Oboyan. The battered 6th Guards Army was ordered to regroup and dig-in as the last line of defense for Oboyan with promised reinforcement from the 1st Tank Army and 40th Army as additional support and to counterattack the German spearheads.

The German 4th Panzer Army was enjoying success, and was pushing North to cross the Pena River and secure the road to Oboyan.

A confrontation is brewing on the steppes of the Kursk bulge.

The infantry has opened a hole in the German front lines and Patton has unleashed his armor. A German communications and logistics center lies a few miles behind the lines. Can the fast moving US armor capture the town before the Germans can organize a defense? Based on the exploits of the 4th Armored Division, this game will feature a 12' long table and lots of movement. Each side has important operational decisions to make as well, each of which can affect the battle being played out on the tabletop. 15mm miniatures.

Battle in the streets of downtown Houston. If you think rush hour is bad, try road rage with a mech. Innersphere game. All level 2 rules apply. Each person brings one mech and, if possible, the record sheet for it. Plastech minis will be on hand, with a few sorted record sheets.

The year is 3028 and the AFFS is prepping for a full-scale invasion of Liao space. First, they must control or destroy the class-A HPG station at Dungrin's Deep, Nanking, which is protected by elements of the Warrior House Dia Dachi. This sensitive mission falls into the hands of one of the Prince's most loyal combat units, your unit, Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Battlemech Regiment; a.k.a. the Bullet Stoppers.

A Level One, Inner Sphere, scenario using reinforced lances of battlemechs and vehicles. The player voted best performer wins an Iron Wind Metals miniature.

Note: this game uses Battletech and Citytech rules.

Clan honor rules II apply. Bring your clan omni mech and record sheet; no proxies allowed. Some clan mechs will be made available, with record sheets. It's a "kill or be killed" match, with no punches, kicks, charges or DFA. Targeting computers can't target, but they get the minus 1 to hit. No tag, LB X A/C, machine guns. No clan streak MRM missiles. No ARROW 4, or long toms. Madcats are now 2nd line mechs and can't be used. Heavy metal pro designs must have their accompanying design stats sheet. All other special rules T.B.A.

The Grim Melee - Individual Tournament 4-30 players

So you thought you were good in the team fight, eh? Well, how good are you on your own when you lance mates are now your enemies?! Prove your worthiness as a warrior in the Grimm's Arena where glory and prestige await, or die a lonely, pathetic civilian having never striven for greatness.

This is multi-player grand melee tournament to be fought on Geohex terrain. Many go in, but only one can be victorious.

All necessary material will be provided; however, a pen and your own dice (2d6) would be helpful.

Grimm's Gambit - Team Tournament 8-30 players

Strap yourself into the ultimate suit of armor - the Battlemech! Thirty feet tall and weighing up to a hundred tons, this humanoid engine of destruction is a walking arsenal with enough firepower to level a city block! Join with your lance mates (4 warriors per lance) for a Solaris VII style, battle royal against other eager lances. To the victor goes the spoils!!!
A double elimination tournament using Level Two rules. Sign-up early to choose your faction before others beat you to it. Factions include but are not limited to: the five major Houses and various Mercenary units.

Canvas Eagles (WWI Aerial Combat)

Two Years of Burning Kites 4-12+ players

This will be a continuous 9 hr game, but players may join and leave as they wish; players may sign up for one or both slots.

WWI aerial miniatures combat. Players who are removed from play by being shot down can come back as the same pilot, as long as he survives, and as another pilot if he doesn't. Experience will be continuously calculated for pilots/observers to gain skills. Missions will be set for two seater aircraft, and their success will help the entire side. Bonus experience for the side with the most victory points when the war is over. Several prizes over different categories.

A Demo game for CAV, Reaper Miniatures' exciting and fast-play Sci-Fi mecha game.

This scenario is taken from the Assault on New Memphis game run by Reaper at Origins 2002. The Annubis Guards must defend the city of New Memphis from Rach invaders. Terrain features eye-popping terrain created by the Reaper art department and some figures created by Reaper for the movie "The Scorpion King". The game is presented by the Reaper Black Lightning Demo Team.

A Demo game for CAV, Reaper Miniatures' exciting and fast-play Sci-Fi mecha game.

Terran forces are conducting training in a urban training zone. Rookie pilots are under the tutelage of the great Ace pilot Hans Schneider. Mercenary forces have been hired to assassinate Schneider while he is without experienced support. Unfortunately, Schneider is piloting a Rhino Combat Assault Vehicle, one of the most powerful CAVs in existence. Come join the ranks and see if you can kill the Rhino.

The G-men and coppers are hitting them together, and the papers are sending reporters there to cover the whole thing. A fast-paced Prohibition-era raid.

It was rumored the One King had magical rings made long ago but that they were lost in the mists of time, until now. Emissaries of the various empires and races have been sent to investigate rumors of the discovery of one or more rings and claim the prizes, if any. A multiplayer Chronopia brawl that will run in two back to back time slots. If you cannot remain for the full length of the game then your partner can assume control of your forces so don't let time constraints stop you from playing. All material and armies provided.

DBM (De Bellis Multitudinis)

7th Annual Gulf Wars DBM Tournament

Note: This is a special event and requires a Special Events pass.

DBM is a minatures rule set that allows battles between two pre-gunpowder armies. Virtually any army in recorded history can be used. The tournament consists of four 3.5 hours rounds. Swiss style scoring is used where winners play winners. Everyone plays four games. This tournament uses 15 mm scale.

Schedule: Doubles tourney on Friday starting at 1 pm. The main tourney runs from 9 am to about midnight on Saturday. Final round is from 9 am to about 1 pm on Sunday.

Sign up information: Please note that this event runs throughout the weekend. You will need to sign up for a Weekend Special Events pass to play. When signing up, don't worry about the time slot information. Just list DBM as your first choice and you are finished.

On October 8, 1862, the pivotal battle for control of Kentucky occurred at Perryville. The widely separated Federal forces were still deploying when McCook's I Corps suddenly bore the brunt of a strong Confederate attack in the early afternoon. Fighting continued until the southerners ran out of momentum with the coming darkness. Despite suffering greater casualties, the Federals did not break and most of their troops had not been committed to battle. After learning just how many fresh units his opponent still had, Bragg withdrew from the field the next day. How well will you fare?

Fly as an Allied pilot to bloody the nose of the Japanese (or simply survive for one more day) or as a Japanese pilot and fulfill your samurai destiny in the mighty Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero-Sen. 1:300 WWII Air Combat.

The gold ships have arrived in the town of Puerta Brazos. A fleet of small pirate ships have banded together to raid the town. There is rum in the warehouse, and gold somewhere in town. Are you bold enough to try and cut out the King's frigate? Lead your crew to glory at Puerta Brazos, but beware your allies. Players each command a small pirate ship against the Spanish forces of Brazos Valley Historical Miniatures in a raid against a port town complete with docks, warehouses, taverns, and a fort. Scale is 25mm figures with very large boats.

Player Gear: All entries must be fully modeled, painted, and have a completed data-fax with the dreadnought's weapons and point-values clearly listed. Players also need their own dice and a small ruler or tape-measure.
